International Marathon Of Paris Combines One Of Europe’s Greatest Athletic Events With The Ultimate “Scenic Route”
Paris is indubitably the shining star among European cities. The cosmopolitan hub of France built on the banks of the river Seine of the North, Paris is the cultural, historical and artistic Mecca of travelers the world over. Its skyline features some of the most historic and iconic architectural creations in the world and is imbued with a rich sense of history; its atmosphere one of poetry, romance and fashion befitting a people renowned for their predilection for the finer things in life. One of the Parisian events that best showcases the cityscape to its best advantage is the city’s International Marathon.
The Paris International Marathon is one of the most famous athletic events held in Europe. Held annually on a Sunday every April, it enlists 37,000 male and female runners of all nationalities, professional and amateur. The streets become jam packed with a crowd of over 250,000 cheering, flag waving spectators who are kept entertained by over 70 music scenes dotted throughout the city. Organized by the Amaury Sport Organization, wheelchair races for disabled participants are a notable progressive sports feature of this event.
The Parisian International Marathon appeared in the form it does today in 1977, the distance of whose route spans a standard Olympic length of 42.195km and unquestionably comprises the most scenic route of any long-distance running event in the world. Starting out from the Triumphal Arch down the Avenue des Champs Elysees, Europe’s most exclusive avenue, it winds through beautiful Parisian woodlands and the heart of the city, passing the iconic sights of Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre Museum and Place de la Bastille. Most of the course runs along the flat river banks of the scenic Seine. Typical French refreshments of red wine and cheese are served to participants at the 35km mark, opposite the Eiffel Tower. The final stretch passes east through Bois de Boulogne and the finish line appears on the Avenue Foch.
If you’re a traveler seeking a stay at a luxury hotel in Paris but don’t want to miss out on any of the excitement, then Millennium Hotel Paris Charles de Gaulle is the ideal retreat for you. Located at the heart of the Paris city centre within convenient proximity to the international airport, this Paris airport hotel epitomizes the best of Parisian comfort and gives you the best access to the many attractions of the City of Lights.

What is the more Scenic yet Direct Route from San Diego to Boston?
My future wife and I are trying to decide between Interstate 40 and 70. Can’t decide if we should go 70 through Utah, Colorado, Kansas, ect….Or if we go 40 and go through Arizona, New Mexico, part of Texas, Oklahoma. We don’t have a ton of time, about 5-6 days. Any tips on the more scenic route, or the more direct route, would be appreciated.
I have driven on numerous parts of both highways.
My personal recommendation for scenery would be to take 70. You will get spectacular scenery of both the desert / red rock canyons in Utah, as well as the mountains in Colorado. A quick stop in Moab if you have the time is worth it. Arches National Park and Canyonlands are beautiful!
If you take 40, you will see only mostly desert.
Also, if you stay on 70 through Missouri, southern Illinois and Indiana, it avoids the traffic of taking I-80, and will be more scenic than driving on 40 through Oklahoma.
In the long run, drive times might be slightly longer through mountains, but well worth it.
Good luck!
