How is Your Life Purpose Going?
In our book “Getting Thru to Your Soul”, we wrote about the subject described in the book’s subtitle, “The Four Keys to Living Your Divine Purpose.” Since the time of its publishing (2000), more has been discussed about this all-important subject. We want to return to examining the subject of true purpose.
However much you are aware of it, your life purpose affects your life in so many ways. Here’s an overview of how your life purpose influences you. It:
* springs from your soul’s longings.
* focuses your attention on what’s important for you and what you need to do.
* uses your strengths, talents and skills.
* functions holistically: affecting you on a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual level.
* operates in different dimensions-the 3-D daily affairs as well as higher, metaphysical realms.
Your life purpose is what you were born to do. It helps to answer the eternal question: what am I here for?
As we evolve, we merge more with our soul. As we discussed in our Soul book, the more you become aware of your soul, the more you enlist its help for guidance and to clear blocks in your way. In the process, your life purpose becomes evident. You are following inner guidance more and living in the moment.
As a note, life purpose also becomes more of a focus as we age. With life stages, mid-life is a time when assessing our life and taking stock of where we are going comes more to the forefront.
CLARIFYING YOUR LIFE PURPOSE
As we grow, it’s natural to apply our gifts and talents to our activities, which leads to living our life purpose. For example, if your life purpose is to create art for people to experience beauty, you will be drawn to activities that relate to this purpose.If you want to help people reach their full potential (our purpose), your activities will reflect that purpose.
The goal for life purpose is to follow your heart. The heart is connected to the soul. Following your inner promptings can ultimately become a way of life. Your heart and soul promptings, if followed, can be an infallible guide for leading you on your path to wholeness.
LIFE PURPOSE EXERCISE
You may or may not be clear on what you purpose is yet. If you keep following the suggestions we offer in our “Soul News” ezine, you will have many resources that lead to living a soul-based life, even if there are some seeming setbacks along the way.
To get a better sense of your life purpose, consider:
1. What are you drawn to?
2. What makes a difference for you, however big or small? What inspires you?
3. How would you like the world to be a better place?
Take time to answer these three questions. It can give you a good sense of your purpose. Meditate on your answers and a vision can emerge.
Continue to follow these important threads-following your soul promptings, doing what is meaningful to you, expressing your talents and skills to help yourself and others. It can create a beautiful tapestry for your life.
As you follow your purpose, heeding your special calling, you will not only be helping yourself and living joyously, you will set an example for others to follow their unique purpose and make their particular contribution. Surely, the world will become a better place as a result.
