Introduce Lots of Bling This Wedding Season

Indian weddings are known for their love affair with bling and more bling. The evidence of this is found in the use or crystals and golden zardozi for lehengas, saris, salwar kameez, and other Indian wear. Manish Malhotra, who is associated with bling said that, “Couture is all about opulence and that comes with bling.” For the bridal season Malhotra designed anarkali kurtas and lehengas encrusted with crystals and J.J. Valaya experimented with crystals, embellishments, and embroidery for line of anarkalis, bridal saris, and skirts.

According to fashion designer Pallavi Jaikishan, this season one can make a true style statement with glittering saris, along with dramatic earrings and big chunky neckpieces. Other designers like Suneet Varma, Manav Gangwani, and Tarun Tahiliani also put their thumbs up for crystal embellishments on saris as well bridal gowns. Tahiliani also chooses gota work, pearl embroidery, and chikankari for his Indian attires for the bridal season.

A bride has to be at her best on the wedding day. The bridal outfit will not be complete without the best accessories. You can also bring the bling into the accessories. Instead of playing around with traditional and heavy accessories, you can embellish you bridal ensemble with a variety of hair ornaments, ornate headgear, saris belts and much more. If you choose the latest hair ornaments then you make your outfit look royal. Another classic accessory is the jeweled sari belts. Although it is traditional, you can give a new look to it to add a contemporary touch.

Would-be brides can also experiment with various kinds of bags. You can browse stores for bags of different sizes and shapes. If you want to stick to traditional ones then it is better to opt for jeweled bags. Then there are beautiful potli bags made of brocade or any other material. You can try selecting from any of the modern bags in interesting shapes or you can get them custom made.

The materials for bridal wear this season would definitely be velvet, silk, organza, and chiffon. Designer Manav Gangwani feels, “Velvet is very versatile” and he has “used it liberally to give a regal look to the outfits.” If you want to look very feminine then net is a good choice of fabric. Nowadays designers are also making kalidar lehengas in fabrics such as lightweight duchess satin, tulle, satin as well as lace.

Once you are aware of the bridal trends this season, you can easily shop for your wedding trousseau.
