Should I need a Hard Start kit placed on an A/C unit only 6 months old?
We are up in the 90′s this week. Last night our A/C unit stopped working. It was one of the first times we have turned it on…EVER. The technician is here now and says it needs a Hrad Start kit to get it going. It is under warranty, so I am not worried about the cost. However, I am worried that a brand new machine already needs something like this. Please help!

Newer high efficiency units that use a nonbleeding TXV on the indoor coil require a “hard start kit”. This most likely should have been added prior to the install.
